Boise State Holds Auditions For The Vagina Monologues

The Boise State Women’s Center will hold auditions for "The Vagina Monologues" Friday-Sunday, Jan. 14-16 in the Student Union Cataldo Room. Directors expect to cast 20-25 women of all ages and ethnicities. Acting experience is not required. Each woman will perform a "cold reading" during a 45-minute audition. Audition times are noon-4 p.m. on Jan. 14, and 10 a.m.-3:15 p.m. on Jan. 15 and 16. To sign up for an audition, contact the Women’s Center at (208) 426-4259. "The Vagina Monologues," a play by Even Ensler, will be performed at 8 p.m. Feb. 24-26 in the Special Events Center. It is based on interviews with more than 200 women and uses women’s own words to explore their views on sexuality and body image. The production is part of the nationwide "V-day" campaign on college and university campuses to end sexual violence against women and proclaim Valentine’s Day as a day to celebrate women and end abuse. This is Boise State’s fifth annual production of "The Vagina Monologues."
