JAN. 17-21
 

Human Rights Week. Boise State University observes Martin Luther King Jr./Idaho Human Rights Week with a variety of events centered on the theme “Higher Unlearning.” See events.boisestate.edu for a complete program schedule. For more information, call 426-4636.

           
Monday, Jan. 17

Human rights march to the Statehouse. Meet at the Student Union at 9 a.m. March to the Capitol at 10:30 a.m. Rally for human rights on the Capitol steps at 11:15 a.m. Free.

 

“Slam for Justice” poetry slam. Funny Bone Comedy Club, 8th Street Marketplace. 7 p.m. Student and community poets can compete for cash and prizes on the theme of social justice and human rights. $5 general, $3 with Boise State student ID.

 

Jan. 18-21

Educational seminars. Student Union Hatch and Farnsworth rooms. Educational workshops, films and more on human rights topics. Free.

 

Friday, Jan. 21

Keynote address by Martin Luther King III. Student Union Jordan Ballroom. 7 p.m. Free tickets are available at the Student Union Information Desk.

 

MONDAY, JAN. 17

February One: The Greensboro Four, Diverse Perspectives Film Series.  Cultural Center. 5:30 p.m. This documentary tells the story of four college freshmen who launched a sit-in at the White-only lunch counter of a Greensboro, N.C., Woolworths. Free. Presented by the Cultural Center, Student Activities, Independent Television Service (ITVS), International Programs Office and Idaho Public Television. Call 426-5950.

 

JAN. 19-20

Michael Flatley’s “Lord of the Dance.” Morrison Center Main Hall. 7:30 p.m. This international sensation is a classic Irish tale of good vs. evil, as well as a love story expressed through
