Public Invited To
View Top-Notch Research Displays At Boise State Day At The
Legislature Jan. 19
|
Boise State Day at the Legislature, scheduled from 8 a.m.-1
p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, will highlight cutting-edge and, in
some cases, nationally recognized research by the
university’s undergraduate and graduate students and
professors.
The event will be held on the fourth floor rotunda of the
State Capitol. President Bob Kustra and the university vice
presidents and deans are scheduled to attend the event
beginning at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
Members of the public are invited to visit the displays and
talk with students and professors from all eight colleges at
Boise State. The purpose of the event is to demonstrate to
Idaho’s lawmakers the impact Boise State has on the state’s
economic development and quality of life.
Many of the research projects, across a wide range of
disciplines, explore issues pertinent to Idaho’s people,
environment and economy. The projects on display will
include:
• An evaluation of local health department disease emergency
response plans through the performance of a disease outbreak
simulation
• Ten ethnic landmarks that define Boise
• The characterization and interpretation of the Miocene hot
springs limestone and its surrounding strata
• The role of self-esteem in mediation
• The effects of different warm-up strategies in Olympic
weightlifting
• Boise State’s Students Against Drunk Driving chapter
Also at Boise State Day at the Legislature, students from
the College of Health Sciences will offer health checks to
the legislators.
