High school juniors in the state of
Idaho will be honored this spring for academic achievements
and will be eligible to receive a $1,000 college scholarship
with the new Boise State Capital Scholars program.
Selection is based on college entrance
examination scores and class rankings. All Idaho high school
juniors with a 27 or higher on the ACT or 1,220 or higher on
the SAT, and are ranked in the top 10 percent of their high
school class will be recognized as a Boise State Capital
Scholar. All National Merit Scholar hopefuls are also
eligible.
Honorees will be notified in March and
invited, along with their parents/guardians, to Boise State
on April 26 for campus tours, discussions with academic
deans, and department demonstrations highlighting research
and faculty. Activities culminate with an evening program
where students will receive a one-time scholarship of $1,000
for use at Boise State University. Capital Scholars must be
present at the dinner to be eligible for the scholarship.
Complimentary overnight accommodations in the University
Square apartments will be provided for visiting families
with advance reservations.
“These students are the best and the
brightest in the state, and Boise State University wants to
recognize the academic excellence of these high school
juniors in Idaho,” said Boise State President Bob Kustra.
“The Boise State Capital Scholars program acknowledges their
academic accomplishments and gives them a glimpse of higher
education with an on-campus program in the heart of Idaho’s
capital city.”
