Boise State Announces MLK Poetry Slam Winners

Boise State University has announced the winners of the “I Have a Dream” Poetry Slam Contest held in conjunction with the weeklong Martin Luther King Jr./Human Rights Celebration. The Poetry Slam was held Monday, Jan. 17, at the Funny Bone Comedy Club. Winners are:   1st Place: Jonterri Gadson (non-student), $100 2nd Place: Lesley Juel (former student), $50 3rd Place: Jon Vonk (current student), $25   The week wraps up with a keynote speech by Martin Luther King III at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom. Free tickets have all been distributed; doors open for non-ticket holders at 6:45 p.m. Overflow seating is available in the Hatch Ballroom and the Brava! Stage.
