As
part of “Everybody is Beautiful Week” Feb. 14-17, Boise
State presents former Stanford and professional basketball
player Mariah Burton-Nelson. Burton-Nelson will speak on “We
Are All Strong, Smart and Sexy” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17,
in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom. Her address is free
and open to the public.
An
outstanding (6 feet 2 inches) professional speaker,
Burton-Nelson uses sports stories, “life lessons from the
playing fields” and current events to show people how to
achieve meaningful goals. This presentation will focus on
bringing courage, confidence and peak performance into our
everyday lives, examining how to accept ourselves for who we
are.
Everybody is Beautiful Week, presented by various
departments at Boise State, is designed to educate and
promote a positive self-image among the campus community. In
addition to Burton-Nelson’s presentation, the week features
interactive booths that will challenge individuals to become
critical viewers of the media, incorporate fitness into
their busy lives, understand the benefits of exercise and
learn how not to use food as an emotional crutch.
