Improving Performance In The Workplace Theme Of Annual Conference March 31 At Boise State


The Treasure Valley Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development in cooperation with the Instructional and Performance Technology Department at Boise State University will hold a conference for training and development professionals from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, March 31, in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom at Boise State.

 

This year�s theme is �Making the Connection: From Training to Performance.� The goal of the

conference is to help training and development professionals improve performance in the workplace.

 

The conference will include a presentation in the morning, a luncheon with a keynote speaker, and an afternoon filled with breakout sessions. This year�s featured presenters are Danny Langdon and Kathleen Whiteside. Langdon, former director of training for Morrison-Knudsen, is a leading expert in instructional design and performance improvement systems. Whiteside is a senior management consultant who helps organizations identify performance problems and implement strategic solutions.

 

Tom Kelley, senior vice- president of IEC Group, a human resource and management consulting firm, and past national chairman of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), will offer the keynote address. Kelley has delivered national and international presentations on organizational performance management topics and his experience includes executive positions in human resources in the financial services industry.

 

During the afternoon, participants will choose from six different interactive sessions on the topic of performance improvement. Topics range from determining the root cause of performance issues to exploring the changing role of the trainer.

that date.

 

ASTD-TVC is a professional organization that promotes the fields of training and performance improvement. ASTD has served the interests of training professionals throughout Southwest Idaho and Eastern Oregon for more than 20 years. 

 

The IPT master�s degree program is intended to prepare students for careers in the areas of instructional design, performance improvement, training and development, e-learning, human resources and organizational development.
