Sunday, Feb. 13
Faculty Brass Quintet, Faculty Artist Series. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 4 p.m. Consisting of Brad Peters and Marcellus Brown on trumpet, David Saunders on horn, David Mathie on trombone and Michael Fischer on tuba, the quintet will perform an eclectic mix of music. Selections include a set of Renaissance dances, Malcolm Arnold’s “Quintet for Brass,” Sylvan Cambreling’s “Divertissement” and an arrangement of the popular “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square.” Tickets are $5 general, $3 for seniors and free for students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff. FEB. 14-18

Everybody is Beautiful Week. Designed to educate and promote a positive self-image among the campus community, the week features interactive booths that will challenge individuals to become critical viewers of the media, incorporate fitness into their busy lives, understand the benefits of exercise and learn how not to use food as an emotional crutch. On a Roll, Diverse Perspectives Film Series.  Cultural Center. 5:30 p.m. A documentary that follows the life work of disabled activist Greg Smith, whose nationally syndicated talk radio show “On a Roll” raised awareness about the struggle for people with disabilities. Free. Call 426-5950.

 

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 16

Modern Day Slavery Lecture. Student Union Bishop Barnwell Room. 6 p.m. Discussion led by Trafficking in Human Beings Awareness Campaign. A Black History Month event. Free. Call 426-5950.


Treasure Valley Concert Band.
Les Bois Jr. High School, 4150 E. Grand Forest Dr., Boise. 7:30 p.m. The Treasure Valley Concert Band, joined by resident high school bands, presents a “Red, White, Green and Blue” concert featuring songs from Italy, Mexico and the U.S. The evening includes a tuba solo by Michael Fischer and a piece titled “Los Coyotes” by local composer Carol Matthews. Mariah Burton-Nelson address. FRIDAY, FEB. 18

Osiris Piano Trio.  Morrison Center Recital Hall.  8 p.m. Consisting of Dutch musicians Ellen Corver (piano), Peter Brunt (violin) and Larissa Groeneveld (cello), the Osiris Piano Trio presents an extensive repertoire ranging from Haydn to the composers of today. Tickets are $20 general, $15 for students 17 and under, seniors and Boise State students, faculty, staff and alumni. Call 426-3980.
 

“Rat Pack.” Morrison Center Main Hall. 8 p.m. The Rat Pack is back in this tribute to Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. This “intoxicating” evening of nostalgia from the swinging ‘60s, set at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, features songs like “Luck Be a Lady,” “Volare” and “What Kind of Fool am I?” Tickets are $22-$30 through Select-a-Seat. “Taste the World at Boise State,” International Food, Song and Dance Festival. Student Union Jordan Ballroom. 6 p.m. This annual international festival features exotic foods, songs and dances from around the world, including a dancer from Bangladesh and an opera singer from Moldova. Claremont Trio, Boise Philharmonic. Morrison Center Main Hall. 8:15 p.m. The Boise Philharmonic joins with the Claremont Trio to present the music of Beethoven.
