Tim Parrish, author of “Red Stick Men,”
will present a reading of his fiction at 7:30 p.m. on
Friday, March 4, at the Boise State University Student Union
Bishop Barnwell Room. The reading is presented by the Boise
State English Department’s Master of Fine Arts writing
program, and is free and open to the public.
Parrish is the recipient of the 2001
Walker E. Dakins Fellowship at the Sewanee Writer’s
Conference and the 2001 Connecticut Arts Fellowship. His
collection of short stories, “Red Stick Men,”
received special mention in the Pushcart Prize in fiction
and has been nominated by Tim O’Brien for “Best New American
Voices 2002.” His fiction has been published in Light of New
Orleans Press’ “French Quarter Fiction” anthology, as well
as in editor Alan Wier’s “Walking on Water and Other
Stories,” published by the University of Alabama Press.
This reading is the second of a series of
readings presented by the MFA writing program during the
spring 2005 semester. Upcoming readings will be presented by
Thalia Field, Mei Mei Berssenbrugge, Peter Gizzi and
Elizabeth Willis, and Joy Williams.
