BSU Big Band Tour Kickoff Jazz Bash. Special Events Center. 7 p.m. The award-winning BSU Big Band presents a tour kickoff concert featuring special guest artists Dave Sills on saxophone and Dean Koba on drums. Joining them are jazz bands from Borah, Capitol, Centennial, Kuna, Boise and other local high schools. Ethics and Public Policy Discussion. The Flicks Theatres, 646 Fulton St., Boise. 10 a.m.-noon. Patty Fredericksen, associate professor in Boise State’s Department of Public Policy and Administration and Department of Political Science, will lead this course that explores compelling traditions of moral philosophy through application to topics such as violence, deception, liberty, security and social morality. Linda Wang, violin. Special Events Center. 8 p.m. At age 9, violinist Linda Wang made her debut with Zubin Mehta and the New York Philharmonic. Since then, she has been enchanting audiences with exceptional performances all over the world. Presented by Student Union Classical Performances. Science Competition Day.  Registration 8:30-8:55 a.m. lobby of Education Building; exams 9-10:45 a.m. in Room 107 of Education Building, awards luncheon 11:45 a.m. in Student Union Jordan Ballroom, afternoon competitions 1:15 p.m. in Student Union Jordan Ballroom, Room 113 of Math-Geosciences Building, Room 213 of Engineering and Technology Building. More than 300 teen scientists from around Idaho compete in the 38th annual competition. The top prizes are two four-year $18,000 scholarship offers from BSU.
