St. Lawrence String Quartet Next Up For Boise Chamber Music Series At Boise State

The St. Lawrence String Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, March 11, in the Morrison Center Recital Hall at Boise State University as part of the Boise Chamber Music Series. Tickets are $20 and $15 and will be available a week before the event by calling 426-1216. In addition, a free master class will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 12, also in the Morrison Center Recital Hall.

Since its 1989 Toronto debut, The St. Lawrence Quartet has played to audiences across Europe, Asia,  and North and South America. Consisting of Geoff Nuttall and Barry Shiffman on violin, Lesley Robertson on viola and Chris Costanza on cello, the quartet is known for its imaginative and spontaneous music that the Washington Post calls “emotionally high charged but never out of control.”

The group won the Banff International String Quartet Competition and Young Concert Artists Auditions in the early 1990s. Since then, they have regularly performed at music festivals such as Spoleto USA, Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, New York’s Mostly Mozart and the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival. They have also appeared at venues such as New York’s Lincoln Center and Washington’s Kennedy Center.

Although originally from Canada, members of the group now live in California where they are the ensemble in residence at Stanford University.
