SUNDAY, MARCH 6

The Magic School Bus. Morrison Center Main Hall. 2 and 5 p.m. Climb aboard for a wild ride on Scholastic’s Magic School Bus. Ms. Frizzle and her reptilian sidekick Liz lead two exciting adventures: “The Traveling Sound Show” and “Recycling.” Tickets are $15-$20 through Select-a-Seat. Call 426-1494.
 

Faculty Artist Series. James Cook, piano. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 4 p.m. This concert of violin, cello and piano features faculty member James cook on piano and Boise Philharmonic string members Phyllis Saunders and Arturo Chavez. TUESDAY, MARCH 8

“The Sisters of ’77,” film. Women’s Center. 5:30 p.m. A documentary about an historic weekend in 1977 when 20,000 women and men attended the first federally funded National Women’s Conference in Houston, Texas, where they revolutionized the women’s movement. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9

Current Women’s Health Issues Panel Discussion. Student Union Farnsworth Room. 7 p.m. A panel of BSU nursing professors will present information and lead a discussion on women’s health needs, political health issues and political action. Presented by the Women’s Center. Free. Call 426-4259.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 10

Coffeehouse Concert Series. Singer/songwriter Jessie Veeder. Student Union Brava! Stage. 5-7 p.m. Veeder has been hailed as a natural performer who possesses a charming, free-spirited personality. Drawing on her own life experiences, her songs display a deep, soul-touching portrait of life in western North Dakota, an area she knows and loves dearly. Presented by Student Activities. Free. The First 50 Women in Idaho Law. The Grove Hotel, 245 S. Capitol Blvd., Boise. 6:30-10 p.m. The Idaho State Bar hosts a special evening and dinner to honor its first 50 women members. Co-sponsored by the Women’s Center. For more information, call Diane Minnich at (208) 334-4500.

“Into the Woods.” Morrison Center Main Hall. 7:30 p.m. March 11 and 12; 2 p.m. March 13. Stephen Sondheim’s popular musical starts as a lively and irreverent fantasy and becomes a moving lesson about community and the stories we pass on to our children. FRIDAY, March 11

Womens History Month National Juried Exhibition Reception. Student Union Gallery. 5:30-7 p.m. From 310 entries submitted by 96 women artists nationwide, jurors selected 36 works by 24 artists, two of whom are from Idaho. Exhibition runs through March 30. Call 426-4636.

St. Lawrence String Quartet
