Biosciences Legislative Dinner
Hour-long radio special to be heard on NPR News 91
NPR News 91, the National Public Radio affiliate at Boise State University,
will broadcast an hour-long special featuring highlights from Idaho’s first
legislative dinner devoted entirely to the potential of its research-based
bioscience industry. The program will be heard at 3 p.m. Friday, March 18,
and at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 19.
The dinner, held Feb. 28 at The Grove Hotel, revealed a new view of Idaho’s
bioscience future to a capacity audience of legislators, educators,
investors and private industry leaders.
The program will include the dinner presentations by Carl Feldbaum, founding
president of Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) in Washington, D.C.,
and industry-leading venture capitalist G. Steven Burrill of Burrill & Co.
in San Francisco. Other speakers are AMI Semiconductor CEO Christine King,
J. William Rogers Jr., chief research officer at the Idaho National
Laboratory, and Boise State University President Bob Kustra.
BioIdaho, the Idaho bioscience association, is a non-profit consortium of
Idaho’s universities and leading business entities collaborating to develop
education, investment and industry in the biosciences.
The program will be hosted by Don Wimberly, NPR News 91’s central Idaho news
bureau chief. Audio excerpts from the entire evening will be available at
