Metalsmith Lisa Gralnick To Present Lecture

Visiting artist Lisa Gralnick will give a lecture at 7 p.m. April 21 at the Boise State University Student Union Hatch Ballroom A. The event is free.

Gralnick is an internationally known metalsmith and professor at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisc. Her latest body of work, “The Gold Standard,” is meant to “conduct an inquiry into the value systems through which contemporary society negotiates progress, accumulates knowledge, and promotes physical comfort through consumerism,” she has said.

Gralnick is the recipient of a Tiffany Foundation Grant, two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, and four fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts. Her work is exhibited internationally, including in the collections of the American Craft Museum, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, among others.
