Boise State Gives Out Honors, Inaugurates New Members

The Associated Students of Boise State University honored students, employees and organizations that have made a difference at Boise State at an awards ceremony at the Powerhouse Events Center on March 30. ASBSU also inaugurated its new student body president, vice president and senators.

ASBSU inducted the following graduating students into its Hall of Fame: Charles “Chris” Carr, varsity athletics; Renae Gering, outstanding academic achievement; Daniel Pauly, student government; Josh Legg, student organization; Arielle Anderson, community service; Darin Williams, applied technology; Dennis Ward, alumni.

The following organizations were honored for their contributions to BSU: Taekwondo Club, club sports; IntraVarsity Christian Fellowship, religious; Intertribal Native Council, cultural/ethnic; Alpha Kappa Psi, academic/professional; Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Greek; REACH, special interest; and Beta Alpha Psi, honor society.

Adviser of the year was Karen West for the Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity. The student organization of the year was the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. The David S. Taylor Service to Students award was given posthumously to Margie Van Vooren, BSU’s dean of students. She died on March 7 while awaiting a heart transplant.

ASBSU inaugurated the following At-Large Senators: Wyatt S. Parke, Antonio Bommarito, Russell O’Leary, Texie Evans, Phetsamay Joy Olson, Dang Du, Mike Bobic and Steven Rossland.

The following College Senators were inaugurated: LaTisha Clark, Engineering; Katie Jo Rupert, Arts and Sciences; Christian Busnardo, Education; Brandon J. Stoker, Social Sciences and Public Affairs; Sasa Zuko, College of Business and Economics; Whatlyne Frederick, Health Sciences; Jared Keith Dunn, Applied Technology; and Troy Richard Brosten, Graduate. Joe Holladay was inaugurated as President and Kamron Ahmed was inaugurated as Vice President.
