What: Undergraduate Research and Scholarship Conference

When: 1-4 p.m. Monday, April 11

Where: Boise State Student Union

More than 100 Boise State University undergraduates will display their research, artistic and scholarly projects at the Undergraduate Research and Professional Practice Conference this coming Monday, April 11. Representing disciplines from across campus, the students will perform, give poster presentations and answer questions from 1-4 p.m. in various locations in the Student Union. Several students will be recognized for outstanding research achievements. This event is free and open to the public.

To help you plan photo opportunities, here is a brief schedule of events. Students will be available to answer questions about their research for the full three hours. Although you are welcome to come anytime during the three-hour block, the best time to arrive would be 2:30 p.m., allowing you to speak to presenters, watch a performance and catch the beginning of the 3:15 p.m. formal presentation ceremony.

  • 1-4 p.m. — Student poster displays in the Jordan Ballroom and artwork in the Student Union Gallery

  • 1:30-3 p.m. — Student performances in the Hatch Ballroom

  • 2-3 p.m. — Student documentary film on domestic violence, “Hurt, Perfectly,” in the Lookout Room

  • 3:15 p.m. — Comments by Provost Sona Andrews and Vice President for Research John Owens. The event will conclude with the presentation of certificates; several students will be recognized for outstanding achievement

Boise State routinely provides undergraduates with the opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research with professors in a wide range of subject areas. Undergraduate research is integral to the university and its mission and provides students with invaluable experience. These experiences are uncommon at the undergraduate level at most universities.

This event will be very colorful and is perfect for cameras. We’d also appreciate any notices you can put in print or on the air before Monday, so that the public is aware of this unique opportunity.
