Boise State Celebrates Earth Week With Speaker, Events
Boise State will mark Earth Day, Friday, April 21, with a week of events
around campus, including a lecture by noted author and activist Duane Elgin.
Elgin will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the Boise State Student
Union Jordan Ballroom B. His speech is titled “The World at the Tipping
Point.” Elgin has written books on such topics as voluntary simplicity and
media compatibility, and he co-wrote “Changing Images of Man” with scholar
Joseph Campbell. Elgin’s lecture is free, and light refreshments will be
provided.
Other events include:
• Movie at
the Cultural Center, 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19.
• ‘Green’ student organization fair, 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, on the
Quad. Plant a vinca shrub between the Administration and Liberal Arts
buildings and receive an Earth Week T-shirt from Mission Playground.
• Environmental workshop, 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, at the Student Union
Patio. Join speakers, musicians, students, “Eddy the Trout” and
representatives from BFI and Boise City Public Works to talk about
environmental activities and community engagement.
All events are free and open to the public. Earth Week events are sponsored
by the Boise State Volunteer Services Board.
