Literacy Professor, Storyteller
Team Up For Children's Book
Boise State literacy professor Stan Steiner, his wife, storyteller Joy Steiner, and illustrator Jocelyn Slack joined together to create P is for Potato, a new book for children.
P is for Potato is part of Sleeping Bear Press� �Discover America State by State� series, which has one million copies in print across the United States. The books is written entirely about Idaho, and covers the state from Ketchum to Boise to Pocatello and beyond. Young readers get an introduction to famous Idahoans such as Philo T. Farnsworth, the inventor of the television; the Basque community; Emma Yearian, the �Sheep Queen of Idaho�; Picabo Street, Olympic skier and medalist, and more.
Each subject
in the book has two parts: a simple poem for younger readers, and a more
in-depth explanation for older readers. Upcoming book signings for P is for Potato include an 11 a.m. (introduction) and noon book signing May 7 at Barnes and Noble, 1301 N. Milwaukee, Boise, and 5:30 p.m. June 2 at Book and Game Company, 906 W Main St, Boise.
