BOISE STATE TO CO-SPONSOR IRISH, SCOTS-IRISH GENEALOGICAL
HERITAGE WORKSHOP MAY 29
The Boise State University legacy marketing research group in the College of
Business and Economics will help sponsor an Irish and Scots-Irish
genealogical heritage workshop from 2-5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 29, at the
Idaho Historical Museum, 610 N. Julia Davis Drive.
Two of the world’s top genealogical researchers on the Irish and Scots-Irish
heritage from the Ulster Historical Foundation in Belfast, Northern Ireland,
will participate as part of an international lecture tour. Brian Trainor,
research director, and Fintan Mullan, executive director, will discuss Irish
and Scots-Irish family history research, finding and evaluating records in
Ireland and using electronic sources such as the Internet and CD-Rom discs.
The lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
Admission is $10 per person at the door. The experts also will be available
for personal consulting sessions after the lecture at the Flicks Theatre
conference room. The cost is $35 per 20-minute session. The Flicks also will
show an Irish film, “The Boys and Girls from County Clare,” that evening.
Lecture co-sponsors include the Idaho State Historical Society and the Idaho
Genealogical Society. Additional sponsorship donations or vendor displays
are welcome. For more information, call Boise State marketing professors
Nina Ray at 426-3837 or Gary McCain at 426-1615.
