News Release May 9, 2005 Fred Meyer Broadway in Boise Announces 2005-2006 Season
The Broadway
in Boise series at Boise State’s Morrison Center, sponsored this season by
Fred Meyer, will bring four hit shows to town. The Fred Meyer
Broadway in Boise season will include Mamma Mia, 42nd Street,
and The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? This season also will feature an
encore special performance of An Evening with Bill Cosby. Fred Meyer Broadway in Boise began renewing tickets for current subscribers on April 28. New subscribers will be invited to join the series after May 9. New subscriber seating will begin immediately after the current renewal campaign is finished. To become a season subscriber, call (208) 426-1111 or visit www.broadwayacrossamerica.com.
Tickets for
the 2005-2006 season will initially only be available as a subscription or
as a group. Group tickets for 20 or more people are available by calling
(208) 426-1629. Single tickets will be made available at a later date. This year’s lineup is:
• Mamma Mia, eight performances, Oct. 11-16: This heartwarming tale features more than 20 classic ABBA songs, including Dancing Queen, The Winner Takes it All, Knowing Me, Knowing You, and, of course, Mamma Mia.
“You don’t
have to be an ABBA fan to feel the charm of Mamma Mia!,” The San
Francisco Examiner raved. International Emmy Award winner Phyllida Lloyd
will direct, and the book is by Catherine Johnson. • An
Evening with Bill Cosby, two performances, Nov. 12: Bill Cosby has
achieved success as a writer, producer, philanthropist, spokesman and
stand-up comedian. His observations on life are meant for everyone who has
been a kid, a parent or a struggling math student. This is a rare
opportunity to see Bill Cosby at his best — in front of a live audience. • 42nd Street, three performances, Feb. 7-9, 2006: 42nd Street is the second-longest running American musical in Broadway history and the 2001 Tony Award winner for Best Revival of a Musical. This production includes a cast of 54, 750 costumes and dozens of stage effects. There has hardly been a week when the Al Dubbin and Harry Warren backstage musical hasn’t played somewhere in the world since the opening of its pre-Broadway engagement at the Kennedy Center Opera House in 1980.
• Robert Dubac’s The Male Intellect — An Oxymoron?, four performances, May 18-21, 2006: Actor and writer Robert Dubac spends 90 minutes pondering the question, “What do women want?” His hit one-man show is a multi-character study with him playing all the roles. The Male Intellect is a clever combination of theater and stand-up comedy. This show contains mature themes and language.
