News Release May 27, 2005 Boise State Radio Wins Journalism Honors at the Society of Professional Journalists 2005 Northwest Excellent Awards Several journalists from
Boise State Radio took home radio awards at the Society of Professional
Journalists 2005 Northwest Excellence Awards Banquet on May 21. The awards
represent the best in journalism in Idaho, Washington and Oregon. Third Place: Regional Correspondent Tom Banse — “Learning to Live with Cougars” Feature News Report (three-way tie with Boise State Radio journalists) First Place (tie): Regional Correspondent Tom Banse — “Eugene, Oregon, Man Saves Disappearing Sounds” First Place (tie): North Idaho Correspondent Elizabeth Wynne Johnson — “Preserving the Coeur d’Alene Language” First Place (tie): Tri-Cities Correspondent Rachael McDonald — “Hanford’s Nuclear Legacy” Documentary Reporting Second Place: North Idaho Correspondent Elizabeth Wynne Johnson — “Citizen Soldiers Prepare for War in Iraq” Sports Reporting Second Place: Regional Correspondent Tom Banse — “Live High, Train Low” Under a partnership with
various public radio stations in the Pacific Northwest, each of these award
winners is a regular producer for Boise State Radio and the other public
