Boise State Student Ian Percy Chosen To Present Research At National Conference

Boise State University student Ian Percy is one of five students selected nationally to present a research poster at the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) conference June 25-28 in Providence, R.I. Percy is a junior majoring in environmental health. A 2001 graduate of Capital High School, he is the son of Liz and Alan Percy of Lennox, Calif.

The Association for Environmental Health Academic Programs (AEHAP) annually calls for submissions for its National Environmental Health Research Awards Program. The awards are open to all programs accredited by the National Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (NEHSPAC). Percy received the award for his research on snowmobile emissions in Yellowstone Park under the direction of Dale Stephenson, director of Boise States environmental health program. Percy also presented the research at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition held in Anaheim, Calif., in May; at the National Occupational Research Agenda Symposium held in Salt Lake City, Utah, in April; and at the Boise State Undergraduate Research Symposium in March.

Other students selected to make presentations in Providence are from the University of Washington, Eastern Kentucky University, Missouri Southern University, Ohio University and Bowling Green University.

Beginning in August, Percy will serve an internship in the Energy and Environment business unit of Washington Group International. In summer 2006, he will complete a public policy internship at the U.S. Department of States Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs in Washington, D.C.
