News Release August 1, 2005 BSU Foundation Records Best Fund-Raising Year Ever The Boise State University Foundation had its best fund-raising year ever in the 2005 fiscal year with a 61 percent increase. The Foundation received $18,944,376 in gifts, donations and private grants, surpassing the previous best total of $11,647,346 in 2004. “The record contributions for Boise State are a tangible sign of the momentum that is building for the university,” said Rick Frisch, Boise State vice president for university advancement. Foundation donations have increased 275 percent since 2003 when contributions totaled $6,875,066. “This is by far the biggest fund-raising year we’ve had due to the generosity of many individuals, corporations and foundations that support Boise State’s academic and athletic endeavors,” Frisch said. “People are responding to the vision of a metropolitan research university of distinction, and they are enthusiastic for the future of higher education.” Significant gifts this year included: $3.1 million for the multi-purpose indoor training facility; $2.5 million from the estate of Jody DeMeyer for an endowed nursing chair; $1.7 million donation in laboratory equipment from Micron Technology; and $1.1 million from the Nampa Industrial Corporation to help fund a new Center for Transportation and Construction Technology building on the BSU-West campus. Gifts in support of the Boise State Alumni Association, Bronco Athletic Association and Boise State Radio also figured into the Foundation’s annual fund-raising total. Membership revenue increased 62 percent for the Boise State Alumni Association. The alumni association now has 2,637 members, including more than 450 new lifetime members who joined this year. The Bronco Athletic Association also experienced a growth spurt with a 71 percent increase in annual gift revenue from $1,093,450 in 2004 to $1,537,774 in 2005. A non-profit Idaho organization, the Boise State University Foundation is the official fund-raising organization that also serves as the custodian for donations to the university. The Foundation was established in 1964 to raise and manage private funds for the university and its constituents. -30- Contact: Rick Frisch, Vice President for University Advancement, (208) 426-4278 Media Contact: Frank Zang, University Communications, (208) 426-5391
