Boise State Student Radio Relaunches as 'University Pulse'

Boise State University’s student radio station relaunched today as “University Pulse,” with programming on AM 730 from noon to midnight on Sundays.

University Pulse — whose motto is “New Name, Same Attitude” — will soon be broadcast over the Internet. A new studio is being built to accommodate more programming, which will be entirely student-run. The Internet broadcast is expected to be up and running by the time university classes begin on Aug. 22.

The current program lineup is an eclectic mix of music and talk, including:

Noon: The Power to Make a Difference — empowering ’60s and ’70s classic rock
1 p.m.: Earthshake Radio — continuous mix of house music
2 p.m.: Wayside — reggae
2:30 p.m.: Absent Without Leave (program ends on Sunday, Aug. 7, and will be replaced by a new hip hop show, Common Ground)
3 p.m.: The Ghostwood Development — music ranging from Dean Martin to musical numbers
3:30 p.m.: The Showcase — local bands
4 p.m.: Tasty Grooves — electronic music
5 p.m.: The Breaks — break beats from the past 50 years
6 p.m.: Subconscious Frequencies — electronic music
7 p.m.: The Iron Rod — LDS talk show that sometimes features music from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
8 p.m.: Spectacular Rubble — popular music from the past 50 years
9 p.m.: Girl Volcano — local eclectic music and interviews
10 p.m.: The Dutchess Show — an interactive show that invites the audience to participate in their own lives while she plays music and talks about life, love and music
10:30 p.m.: Philbot 5000 Presents … — indie music
11 p.m.: Boise Deep — deep house

University Pulse’s Web site is pulse.boisestate.edu.  The station is funded by a $2-per-student fee, which was added this spring. Students can apply to host their own shows by contacting Christian Belden at christianbelden@boisestate.edu.
