News Release August 15, 2005 Photo/Media Advisory: What: Boise State President Bob Kustra delivers his State of the University address to kick off the fall semester When: Wednesday, Aug. 17, 8:30 a.m. (scheduled for one hour) Where: Jordan Ballroom, 2nd Floor, Student Union Building Boise State University President Bob Kustra will deliver his State of the University address to a staff and faculty convocation on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 8:30 a.m. in the Jordan Ballroom of the Student Union Building. His address will be available live via webcast at http://streamer.boisestate.edu/ramgen/encoder/president.rm The webcast is streamed using Real Player technology - viewers will need the Real Player to view the webcast. The free player is downloadable at www.real.com Kustra is embarking on his third year as president of the largest institution of higher learning in Idaho and the state’s only metropolitan university with more than 18,000 students and 2,000 faculty and staff. He took the helm as Boise State’s sixth president on July 1, 2003. His administration has been marked by an emphasis on upgrading admissions standards, improving the undergraduate experience and increasing the number of graduate and doctoral programs. University milestones during his tenure have included the first fully endowed professor’s chair, opening of new residence halls and apartments, expansion to the BSU-West campus in Nampa and more than $43 million in externally sponsored research grants and programs. Following the State of the University address, individual college-wide meetings will be conducted for Arts and Sciences, Education, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Public Affairs, Applied Technology, Business and Economics, and Engineering. A “Beyond the Blue” Lunch will be held for all faculty and staff from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. behind the Student Union Building. The first day of classes for the fall 2005 semester is Aug. 22. The residence halls open at noon on Aug. 19. There will be “back to school” photo and story opportunities for the media with the move-in process. For the first time, Boise State is expected to have more than 1,000 students living on campus this fall.
