ROTC cadets practice moves in full uniform in the pool
When: 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1
Where: Boise State pool, east of the Student Union and south of Taco Bell
Arena on
Bronco Circle.
Who: LTC Bradford Nelson and junior and senior cadets
In preparation for eventual commissioning, junior and senior Army ROTC
cadets at Boise State University will engage in Combat Water Survival
Training from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in the Boise State pool. Cadets
will jump into the pool in full battle dress uniform (BDU). Members of the
media are welcome to attend beginning at 3:30 p.m.
CWST is designed to test the cadets� swimming abilities. It consists of
several stations, including a 25-meter swim, 12-meter swim with weapon,
blind equipment jump, equipment release, and BDU flotation methods.
The ROTC program at Boise State was established in 1977 as a voluntary
program. In preparation to serve in the military, cadets receive a wide
variety of leadership instruction and hands-on training, including
rappelling, rope-bridge building, land navigation and small unit tactical
training. Its objective is to provide university students who have the
ability and desire with an opportunity to become commissioned officers in
the Army.
