News Release September 7, 2005 Boise State's Volunteer Services Board to Hold Vigil For Hurricane Katrina Victims The Boise State University Volunteer Services Board, a student-run group, will hold a candlelight vigil for the victims of Hurricane Katrina at 9 p.m. Friday in the Quad on the Boise State campus. Participants are asked to bring their own candles, and candles will be provided for people who do not have any. The vigil is part of Boise State’s ongoing efforts to bring relief and support to Hurricane Katrina victims. The VSB will accept donations of canned food and clean clothes through Sept. 19 in its office in the Student Union Building. After Sept. 19, all donations will be sent to the Mountain Home Air Force Base and shipped to the hurricane victims. Boise State will make accommodations and adjustments for any students whose planned studies this fall have been postponed or adversely affected by Hurricane Katrina. Interested students should contact Boise State’s Admissions Office at (208) 426-1820 or toll free at 1-800-824-7017. The campus community will be able to make donations via containers at the Student Union and around campus that will be collected for a relief organization.
