News Release September 16, 2005 Celebrate Filipino Culture With Annual 'Galing Galing' Festival “Galing Galing,” an annual celebration featuring Filipino food, song and dance, will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and a buffet-style dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Entertainment begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 general, $10 students with ID and children. Children younger than 5 will be admitted for free. Tickets are not available at the door, but are available through the Student Union Information Desk, 426-4636. Galing means “good,” in Filipino, and “Galing Galing” means “excellent.” The festival will feature a special spoken-word performance by Kevin Nadal. Nadal is a comedian and performance artist of Filipino descent. His performance, “Pinoy: A One-Man Show About Growing Up F/Pilipino in America,” will incorporate Filipino history, culture and song. Another Roadside Attraction will be the featured band for the evening. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1, and all proceeds from Galing Galing benefit the FILAMO Scholarship Fund.
