Poetry Book Uses Words To Create Music On The Page Norman Weinstein, a local author and adjunct Boise State instructor, will read from his newest book of prose poems, “No Wrong Notes,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Log Cabin Literary Center. Cost is $4 for members and $6 for nonmembers. The center is located at 801 S. Capitol Blvd. “No Wrong Notes” uses 73 single sentences to create musical compositions that evoke a variety of responses in the reader. The theme of the book deals with different spiritual and musical cultures interacting with each other in the writer's personal life and in America in the 21st century. “The years I spent listening to and writing about jazz and Afro-Caribbean music have led to an awareness of the value of that music, and of poetry in alignment with it,” Weinstein said. Published by Spuyten Duyvil, the title is a nod to jazz great Thelonius Monk, who said that in music, “There are no wrong notes; some are just more right than others.” No Wrong Notes by Norman Weinstein ISBN 0-9923389-71-7 paperback Spuyten Duyvil; $10 -30- Contact: Norman Weinstein, (208) 433-1294, nweinste@mindspring.com Media Contact: Kathleen Craven, University Relations, (208) 426-3275, kcraven@boisestate.edu
