Boise State Students to
Present Workshops at Statewide Art Education Conference
Sixteen Boise State University art education students will conduct two
workshops at the Idaho Art Education Conference Oct. 6-7 at the Owyhee Plaza
Hotel in Boise.
Students will present two versions of a workshop, “Contemporary Idaho Art in
the Classroom,” to an audience of art teachers, art education students and
local and state art education officials. The workshops will highlight work
by four recent Idaho Commission on the Arts Fellowship recipients: Scott
Evans, sculpture; Peter Vincent, photography; Eve-Marie Bergren, book arts;
and Jim Budde, ceramics. The workshops coincide with the Idaho Commission on
the Arts/Visual Arts Fellowship Exhibition, which is on display through Oct.
7 at the Boise State Visual Arts Center Gallery I in the Liberal Arts
Building.
The students’ presentations will expand on the conference theme of using
artists within state borders as inspirations and resources for teaching.
Participants will be invited to discuss, explore art inquiry methods and
will present multiple ideas for building studio components for K-12 art
classrooms. Students will offer conference participants a resource CD filled
with lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, discussion questions and
learning activities for use in the classroom.
