Boise State University Celebrates
'Pilipino Awareness Month'
Boise State University is celebrating �Pilipino Awareness Month� with a
series of programs from Oct. 7-28. Pilipino Awareness Month, which
celebrates the culture and history of the Philippines, is sponsored by
BARCADA, Boise State�s Filipino student group, and the Boise State Cultural
Center.
This year�s events include:
� Pilipino Martial Arts demonstration. Noon-1 p.m. Oct. 7, Student Union
Brava! Stage. The Kent Martial Arts Institute of Nampa will perform. Free.
� Karaoke Night. 7-9 p.m. Oct. 14, Student Union Brava! Stage. Free.
� Speak Tagalog Workshop. 1:30 p.m. Oct. 21, Student Union Bishop Barnwell
Room. Participants will learn a few basic greetings in Tagalog. Free.
� Dance Night. 7-10 p.m. Oct. 22, Student Union Hatch Ballroom. $3. Includes
a free salsa dancing lesson.
� Lecture. 3 p.m. Oct. 28, Student Union Forum. Shelton Woods, associate
dean of the College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs, will give a
lecture about the history and culture of the Philippines. Free.
