Boise State University Presents 'Queer as
Film' Festival
The “Queer as Film Festival: Queer Cinema Comes to Boise,” which is
sponsored by Boise State University’s Cultural and Ethnic Diversity Board,
is scheduled for Oct. 20-21.
Movies will be shown at the Student Union Special Events Center and at The
Flicks, 646 Fulton St., Boise. This is the third year for the festival,
which was patterned after regional and national film festivals. The festival
will feature a selection of independent shorts, documentaries,
feature-length films and a panel discussion on Thursday.
Queer as Film seeks out independent cinema with multifaceted representations
of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. This year’s lineup
includes:
• “29th & Gay.” 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at The Flicks. $8 general, $5 students.
• “TransGeneration.” 6 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Special Events Center. Free. The
movie will be followed with a panel discussion featuring one of the stars of
the film, Gabbie, and a representative from the Sundance Channel.
• Shorts program. 8 p.m. Oct. 21 at the Special Events Center. Featuring the
movies “Latchkey,” “Hand-some,” “PROM-troversy,” “Little Black Boot,”
“Different,” “Ryan’s Life,” “A Different War,” “D.E.B.S.” and the
full-length movie “Girl Play.” Tickets are available in advance at the
Flying M Coffeehouse, 500 W. Idaho St., Boise, or at the door. Cash or check
only; $5 general for a single show and $10 for all shows; students and
seniors are $3 for a single show or $5 for all shows.
