MONDAY, OCT. 17
�Africa and the World: The Collision and the Aftermath.� Log Cabin Literary Center, 801 South Capitol. 1:30-3:30 p.m. Second installment of a four-part lecture series, also on Oct. 24 and 31. Delve into this troubled continent with historian Peter Buhler, chair of Boise State�s History Department. $40 plus Renaissance Institute membership. TUESDAY, OCT. 18
Diverse Perspectives Film Series. Student Union Bishop Barnwell Room. 5:30-7 p.m. This series, offered on the third Tuesday of each month, examines diversity through a range of films. This month�s film, �Girl Trouble,� is a profile of three girls entangled in San Francisco�s juvenile justice system and their individual experiences with poverty, parenthood, violence and homelessness. Discussion and refreshments follow the film. Co-sponsored by the Women�s Center, the Cultural Center, Student Activities and the Independent Television Service. Free. Call 426-1223.

Anchor Building Registration Deadline. Class runs 6-8 p.m. Oct. 19 at the REC Climbing Wall. This clinic demonstrates the basic techniques for constructing climbing anchors on both natural and bolted sites. Prerequisite: basic climbing skills clinic and/or belay check. $10. Call 426-1946.
