News Release October 20, 2005 Boise State Theatre Arts Department Presents 'Translations'
The Boise State University Theatre Arts Department will present the drama “Translations” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16-19 and 2 p.m. Nov. 20. Tickets are $12 general, $10 for non-Boise State students, alumni and seniors.
“Translations” is based in Donegal, Ireland, in 1833. It’s the story of a young British officer who has been assigned to anglicize the Gaelic names of Irish places and landmarks. Instead, his heart awakens to a culture, a history and a people far richer and more determined to maintain their own identity than he ever anticipated.
“Translations” will feature a guest appearance by Boise State alumnus Danny Peterson. The play was written by Brian Friel, one of Ireland’s most popular playwrights. “Translations” was awarded the Ewart-Biggs Peace Prize in 1981, and has been performed around the world.
