News Release October 21, 2005 Morrison Center, Kennedy Center Offer Teacher Development Workshop The Morrison Center at Boise State University and the Kennedy Center of Washington, D.C., will team up to offer a workshop from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the Student Union Farnsworth Room. The workshop, “Helping Students Develop and Tell Their Stories,” is the newest programming addition to the Morrison Center’s youth arts education program, ENCORE!, which is beginning its second season. Limited space for the workshop is still available. Any teacher interested in attending should contact Karen Stucker, Youth Program coordinator at the Morrison Center, at (208) 426-1034 immediately to confirm a place. The workshop has been developed by and is in conjunction with the Kennedy Center’s Imagination Celebration on Tour. KCIC will bring the play Alexander Who’s Not Not Not Not Not Not Going to Move to the Morrison Center on Dec. 5. The workshop is designed to offer teachers hands-on experience with strategies and activities related to the Kennedy Center’s Alexander production. The workshop will be lead by Judy Thibault Klevins, a drama educator who has directed hundreds of plays and projects with people ranging in age from 6 to 92. Klevins consults with cultural and performing organizations, universities and Arlington (Virginia) Public Schools. Past workshop participants describe her work as inspiring, innovative and easily implemented. “I am pleased that we have been able to further develop our relationship with the Kennedy Center,” Stucker said. “The quality associated with the Kennedy Center’s productions is virtually unsurpassed. We are excited to have Judy Thibault Klevins lead this workshop for us, because she develops most of the Kennedy Center’s curriculum. Teachers who participate in this workshop are in for a treat.” Tickets are still available for this year’s ENCORE! Season. Call (208) 426-1034 for tickets or show information, or visit http://mc.boisestate.edu/encore/encore.html. Besides Alexander, upcoming productions include LAZER Vaudeville in March and Tap Kids and Pinocchio in April. -30- Contact: Karen Stucker, Morrison Center, (208) 426-1034, karenstucker@boisestate.edu.
