Two Poets to Give
Reading at Boise State University
Poets Hoa Nguyen and Dale Smith will give a reading at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11
in the Student Union Lookout Room at Boise State University. The
presentation, which is part of the MFA Reading Series, is free and open to
the public.
Nguyen and Smith, who are married, edit the journal Skanky Possum. They
live in Austin, Texas, where Nguyen is a creative writing teacher. She has
been published in Anthology of New (American) Poetry and How2. Her poems
also can be read online at the Web sites of Fence magazine and Duration
Press, among others.
Smith is the author of American Rambler, which tells the story of the
Spanish explorer Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca through poems. Smith’s poems
can be found in print and Web journals such as First Intensity, Jacket,
Exquisite Corpse and Mungo vs. Ranger.
The MFA Reading Series brings nationally-known authors and poets to the
Boise State campus. Past speakers include Rick Bass, Chris Offutt, Rae
Armantrout, Liz Waldner, Joy Williams and Denis Johnson.
