Boise State Presents 'Point of View� Conference

Boise State Student Union and Activities will present the annual Point of View conference on Nov. 8-9 in the Student Union Building. The conference is free and open to the public. No preregistration is required, and parking can be found in the Student Union Visitors Lot.

This year�s theme is �Human Rights: A Global Responsibility?� and will feature speakers from Boise State and the community. This year�s keynote speaker is Amy Herzfeld, director of the Idaho Human Rights Education Center.

Nov. 8 events include:
� Conference orientation. 12:30 p.m., Student Union Farnsworth Room.
� �Human Rights Definition� with sociology professor Virginia Husting. 1-1:50 p.m., Student Union Farnsworth Room.
� �The Death Penalty,� with Social Sciences and Public Affairs Dean Michael Blankenship. 2-3 p.m., Student Union Barnwell Room.
� �Community Art and Human Rights,� with art education professor Kathleen Keys. 3:40-4:40 p.m., Student Union Farnsworth Room.
� �Immigration and the Dream Act,� with activists Fernando Mejia and Leo Morales, 4:50-5:30 p.m., Student Union Bishop Barnwell Room.
� Women�s Center Self-Defense Workshop. 5-8 p.m., Student Union Jordan Ballroom D. $10 donation suggested to raise money for the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
� Claudio Beagarie gallery exhibit reception with Hispanic Cultural Center director Donna Vasquez. The exhibit. �From Delano to Sacramento,� is of photographs from the 1960s farm worker movement. 5-7 p.m., Student Union Gallery.
� �The Corporation� screening with anthropology professor Bob McCarl. 7-9:30 p.m., Student Union Bishop Barnwell Room.

Nov. 9 events include:
� Welcome and coffee. 8:30-9 a.m., Student Union Bishop Barnwell foyer.
� �The Hague War Crimes Tribunal� with history professor Nick Miller. 9-9:50 p.m., Student Union Bishop Barnwell Room.
� �Performance Art: The Yes Men,� with art professor Elizabeth Wiatr. 10-10:50 a.m., Student Union Farnsworth Room.
� �International Perspectives on Women and Poverty,� with psychology professor Linda Anooshian. 11-11:50 a.m., Student Union Bishop Barnwell Room.
� Lunch and keynote presentation with Idaho Human Rights Education Center director Amy Herzfeld. Noon-1:30 p.m., Student Union Hatch Ballroom C and D. Lunch is free to students, faculty and friends.
� �Arts and Activism,� with artist Isaac Grambo. 1:40-2:30 p.m. in the Student Union Bishop Barnwell Room.
� �The Environment and Human Rights,� with anthropology professor John Ziker and history professor Lisa Brady. 2:40-3:30 p.m., Student Union Farnsworth Room.
� �Understanding Globalization: Pros/Cons,� with the Boise State Talkin� Broncos Debate Team. 4:10-5 p.m., Student Union Farnsworth Room.
� �Debunking the Myths of �The Monologues,�� with Women�s Center director Autumn Haynes. 5:10-6 p.m., Student Union Bishop Farnsworth Room.
� �Hotel Rwanda� screening. 7-9:30 p.m., Student Union Special Events Center.

Information booths also will be provided on Nov. 9 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Students can receive extra credit for attending; they are advised to speak to their instructors for arrangements.
