Boise State University to
Host Claudio Beagarie Photo Exhibit
Boise State University will host an
exhibit of Claudio Beagarie’s photos, “From Delano to Sacramento,” from Nov.
8-Dec. 7 in the Student Union Art Gallery.
An opening reception will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Nov. 8 in the gallery,
with commentary by Donna Vasquez, the director of the Hispanic Cultural
Center of Idaho. The gallery will be open from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. daily, and
admission is free.
Beagarie, an Idaho resident, took the photos in the exhibit during the
mid-1960s. These influential images show California migrant workers during
their “Boycott Grapes” campaign, led by union organizer Cesar Chavez.
Beagarie captured the United Farm Workers’ struggle and march from Delano to
Sacramento, Calif., on his Rolleiflex camera.
The photos are on loan from the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho in Nampa.
This photo exhibit is on display in conjunction with Boise State’s annual
Point of View conference. For more information on the exhibit or the
conference, call (208) 426-1223.
