Second Annual Creative
Economy Workshop Will Focus on Pioneering Creativity
Leaders from Boise's business,
government, education and arts community will gather on Dec. 2 to explore
how to harness creativity energy to build more prosperous and innovative
organizations.
The Treasure Valley is a pioneer in the creative economy, said Nancy Napier,
a Boise State professor of international business who is spearheading the
event. The entrepreneurial spirit, creative talent, and quality of life,
along with an intriguing blend of arts, business and technology, continue to
attract dynamic people and organizations, she said.
The upcoming workshop is a part of several ongoing efforts to develop Boise
as a creative economic hub. Last year, experts from across the United States
and Europe visited Boise to examine the vision and challenges in the
creative economy, and in the Treasure Valley in particular.
This year's creative economy workshop, “Pioneering Creativity,” will feature
Min Basadur, an internationally recognized expert in applied creativity.
Basadur will focus on how to unleash the creative resources that already
exist in organizations and help attendees understand how to best tap them.
Napier has been studying creative organizations in Boise, including the
Boise State football team, ProClarity and the Idaho Shakespeare Festival.
“If information and technology were the currencies of the 80’s and 90’s,
creativity is the currency of today and tomorrow,” she said. The workshop
will help people from all fields tap into the creativity that exists in
their organizations and learn to use that creativity to help map their
futures and the future of the Treasure Valley, she explained.
Space for the workshop is limited, but organizers are seeking a diverse mix
of organizations to create the best results. For more information or to
register, call the Global Business Consortium office at Boise State at
