Boise State Professor Earns Nurse of the Year Award for Academic Education

Ingrid Brudenell, professor of nursing at Boise State University, was named 2005 Idaho Nurse of the Year for Academic Education by the March of Dimes, Idaho Chapter. Nurses from throughout Idaho were nominated in categories ranging from nursing management to emergency care. Winners were honored at a gala award ceremony at the DoubleTree Riverside in Boise. This was the third year for the award program.

Brudenell was nominated by St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center. A Boise State faculty member since 1981, her research interests include qualitative research, evidence-based practice, policy development, substance abuse recovery and health promotion. Brudenell was instrumental in the implementation of evidence-based nursing practice during her joint appointment with St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center last year. She is currently the associate chairperson for Boise State’s proposed graduate nursing program that will have a population health focus. In addition to volunteering for interfaith health programs, she researches and writes about parish nursing and public health.
