Boise State Professor Earns Nurse of the
Year Award for Academic Education
Ingrid Brudenell, professor of nursing at Boise State University, was named
2005 Idaho Nurse of the Year for Academic Education by the March of Dimes,
Idaho Chapter. Nurses from throughout Idaho were nominated in categories
ranging from nursing management to emergency care. Winners were honored at a
gala award ceremony at the DoubleTree Riverside in Boise. This was the third
year for the award program.
Brudenell was nominated by St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center. A Boise State
faculty member since 1981, her research interests include qualitative
research, evidence-based practice, policy development, substance abuse
recovery and health promotion. Brudenell was instrumental in the
implementation of evidence-based nursing practice during her joint
appointment with St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center last year. She is
currently the associate chairperson for Boise State’s proposed graduate
nursing program that will have a population health focus. In addition to
volunteering for interfaith health programs, she researches and writes about
parish nursing and public health.
