Free Boise State Workshop Looks at Environmentally Responsible Health Care

Health Care Without Harm, a consortium of local health care organizations, will present a free workshop from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, in the Student Union Hatch Ballroom on the Boise State University campus. Free parking is available in the Student Union Visitor Lot.

Participants must register by visiting the Web at http://nursing.boisestate.edu/hcwh/index.htm.  Continuing education credits are available through the Idaho Nurses Association.

Keynote speaker Barbara Sattler will address �Toxic chemicals in our food, air, water and workplace.� She will focus on environmental exposures in health care settings or at home, work, school or play; conduct a �toxic tour;� and address �greening� health care and new environmental health resources � especially those here in the Treasure Valley.

Sattler is an associate professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing and founding director of The Environmental Health Center, a multi-disciplinary center engaged in training, education, research and policy. She has been involved in projects on such subjects as:
Environmental justice
Childhood lead poisoning prevention
Health Homes Initiative
EPA�s nurses assisting communities in waste site-related issues
Children�s environmental health
Institute for school-based nurses on environmental health

This free workshop is funded by a grant from Health Care Without Harm: The Campaign for Environmentally Responsible Health Care.
