Boise State Celebrates the Season with Annual Holiday Family Music Concert

The Boise State University Department of Music will present its annual Holiday Family Concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 in the Morrison Center Main Hall. Tickets are $1, $4 and $6 through Select-a-Seat, 426-1494 or www.idahotickets.com. Parking is free.

This year’s concert will feature performances by the Boise State Flute Choir, the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, University Choirs, the Faculty Brass Ensemble and the University Symphony Orchestra. This year, Boise State President Bob Kustra will give a special reading of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” backed by the orchestra.

The music groups will perform a wide range of music, including Johann Strauss’ “Overture to ‘Die Fledermaus’,” which is traditionally performed during the holidays in Vienna; Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival”; movements from the Bach Magnificat; “Achat Shoalti,” a piece in Hebrew; “Christmas Auld Lang Syne”; “Oma wurde von einem Rentier überfarhen”; “How Brightly Shines the Morning Star”; “Jingle Bell Prism” and more.

The Boise State Chamber Singers will provide pre-concert caroling in the lobby, and the whole crowd is invited to close out the concert with a sing-along.
