Boise State University
President Visits Mini-Cassia
Boise State University and its President Bob Kustra will be visiting the
Mini-Cassia area on Nov. 29 for civic, alumni and student/parent events as
part of its outreach efforts.
Kustra will address a joint luncheon of the Rupert Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs
at noon in the Rupert Elks Lodge, located at 200 West 100 South. Kustra is
in his third year as president of Boise State. His administration has been
marked by an emphasis on upgrading admissions standards, improving the
undergraduate experience and retention of first-year students, and
increasing the number of graduate and doctoral programs.
The Boise State Alumni Association will host a reception with appetizers
from 5-7 p.m. at the Best Western Burley Inn and Convention Center at 800
North Overland Road. Kustra will talk about the future plans for Boise
State. All friends and alumni of Boise State are invited to attend and are
encouraged to pre-register by calling (208) 426-1968.
Students in the Magic Valley who are considering applying to Boise State for
the fall 2006 semester are invited to a free informational program to
“Preview the New U at Boise State.” The program will be held in Rupert at
the Old Minidoka Drug Store at 6:30 p.m. Kustra will give an introductory
welcome. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions in both English
and Spanish for students and their parents on admissions, scholarships and
financial aid, orientation and academic advising and campus housing.
Boise State is Idaho’s metropolitan university and the state’s largest
institution of higher education with 18,599 students. The university offers
more than 190 fields of interest. Undergraduate, graduate and technical
programs are available in eight colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business and
Economics, Education, Engineering, Graduate Studies, Health Sciences, Social
Sciences and Public Affairs, and Applied Technology.
