MONDAY, NOV. 28
Sexual Health Issues Awareness Week. Student Union. Through Dec. 2, a variety of educational programs designed to raise awareness about AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases will be offered. TUESDAY, NOV. 29
“The Two Faces of Democracy.” The Flicks, 646 Fulton. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Final installment of a four-part lecture series. In this workshop, participants will analyze and compare the world’s first modern democracy, the United States, with the world’s largest democratic nation, India. Discussion will be led by Dr. Mohan Limaye, a Fulbright scholar and emeritus professor in the College of Business at Boise State, and Dr. Ross Burkhart, chair of the Department of Political Science at Boise State. $40 plus Renaissance Institute membership. (Photo op) AIDS Memorial Quilt Display. Student Union Jordan A and B Ballrooms. Opening reception at 7 p.m. Eight panels of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display through Dec. 2. The quilt, started in San Francisco in 1987, is an assembly of individual panels created by those who have lost a loved one to AIDS or HIV. Free. Call 426-5540.

International Connections Seminar. Student Union Lookout Room. 12:30-1:30 p.m. Join Daniel Harkness, James Knapp and William Whitaker of the School of Social Work as they present “Teaching Strategies for Strengthening Language and Cultural Competence: Shared Experiences from Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico and Spain.” This event, part of the monthly brown bag luncheon seminar series, is sponsored by the International Programs Office and the Albertsons Library. “A Christmas Carol.” Morrison Center. 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and 3. This holiday season, The New Heritage Theatre Company will present “A Christmas Carol,” the endearing story of Ebenezer Scrooge’s midnight journey to rediscover the meaning of Christmas. Classic Performance Series: Percussion Group Cincinnati. Boise State Special Events Center. 8 p.m. Allen Otte, James Culley and Russel Burge of Percussion Group Cincinnati are faculty members and ensemble-in-residence at the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Their performance will include classics, new music and unique pieces written for the group by young composers from America, Africa, and China. $10; $5 for Boise State faculty, staff and students. Clay and Fire Ceramics Exhibition and Sale. Liberal Arts Building Gallery I. The annual Clay and Fire sale, Dec. 10-12, is an opportunity to purchase functional and sculptural ceramic works of art by students, faculty, alumni and regional artists. A portion of the proceeds from the event will help fund the Visiting Artist Program in Ceramics at Boise State. Call 426-3994.
