Boise State Fall 2005 Phonathon Raises $213,924, Receives
Largest Pledge Ever
Augmented by the largest single pledge in its history,
the Boise State University Phonathon has raised $213,924 during its fall
2005 fund-raising drive.
More than 3,240 alumni and friends of the university contributed to the
annual pledge drive, which is administered by the BSU Foundation.
Phonathon 05 donors included northern California resident Doyle Heaton, who
pledged $10,000 to help establish construction management and business
scholarships at Boise State. The donation by Heaton, who graduated from
Boise Junior College in 1961, is the largest single pledge the Phonathon has
received.
Heaton subsequently pledged an additional $50,000 over the next five years
to be added to the scholarships. His gift qualifies for $5,000 in additional
funds from the BSU Foundations Boise Industrial Foundation matching funds
program, which was established in 2003.
I am happy to be able to do this for students, Heaton said.
Matching gifts are an important source of revenue for Boise State. This year
the Phonathon has the potential to raise an additional $8,000 from donors
who work for a company that matches gifts to educational institutions.
During the next few months the Foundation will send follow-up letters to
alumni and friends who could not be reached by phone, asking for their
support.
Money raised during the fund drive is used to support and enhance academic
colleges, departments and programs at Boise State. For more information
