What: Boise State students, featured speakers from Martin Luther King
Jr./Human Rights Week march and rally available for interviews
When: 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13
Where: Outside the Student Union Hatch Ballroom, second floor of the
Student Union Building
The Boise State University Martin Luther King Jr./Human Rights Celebration
week kicks off Jan. 16 and runs through Jan. 21. The celebration is one of
the biggest events of the year at Boise State and is attended by hundreds of
people from throughout the Valley. You�re invited to meet a few of the
student leaders who have organized the events and who will be speaking at
the march and rally on the Statehouse steps Monday morning and the Poetry
Slam for Justice II on Monday night.
This would be an excellent opportunity to preview the week�s events, which
wrap up with a keynote speech by CNN journalist Charlayne Hunter-Gault at 8
p.m. Jan. 20 in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom and a performance by the
musical group The Princely Players at 8 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Morrison Center.
Interview subjects include:
� Rodney Curley, chairman of Boise State�s MLK committee. He will speak at
the march and rally on Monday.
� Dang Du, an Associated Students of Boise State University senator and MLK
committee member. He also will speak at the march and rally on Monday and
will compete in the poetry slam on Monday night.
� Kate Neal, member of the Boise State Cultural Center staff and MLK
committee member. Neal will give a rap performance on the Statehouse steps
under the stage name KRITIK. She also will perform at Monday night�s poetry
slam.
All three of these students have been intimately involved with the week�s
events and can answer any questions you might have. They also can be reached
