Boise State Capital Scholars Program Provides $1,000
Scholarships for Idaho High School Juniors
Idaho high school juniors will be eligible for a $1,000
scholarship to Boise State University through its Capital Scholars academic
achievement program this spring.
Selection is based on college entrance examination scores and class
rankings. All Idaho high school juniors who score in the top 10 percent of
the ACT, SAT or PSAT and rank in the top 10 percent of their high school
class will be recognized as Boise State Capital Scholars. The cut-off scores
to qualify in the top 10 percent of the college entrance exams are: 27 or
higher on the ACT, 1220 or higher on the critical reading and math sections
of the SAT, or 122 or higher on the critical reading and math sections of
the PSAT.
The Capital Scholars program is designed to keep our top students in state
for their college education with scholarship assistance, said Bob Kustra,
president of Boise State University. Last fall, Boise State welcomed its
highest academically qualified freshman class in school history. We are
continuing our efforts to attract the best and brightest students in Idaho.
Honorees will be notified in March and invited, along with their
parents/guardians, to Boise State on April 3 for campus tours, discussions
with academic deans, and demonstrations highlighting research and teaching.
Activities culminate with an evening dinner, keynote speaker and awards
program where students will receive the $1,000 scholarship to Boise State.
Capital Scholars must attend the April 3 program in Boise to receive the
one-time scholarship.
Last year, 39 Idaho students ranging from Bonners Ferry and Salmon to
Pocatello and the Treasure Valley received $1,000 scholarships for
matriculation to Boise State as members of the inaugural class. More than
350 students were identified statewide as Capital Scholars.
