EXHIBITIONS
Through Feb. 10: �kNOw Hate.� This exhibition, presented as part of
this year�s Martin Luther King Jr./Human Rights Celebration, examines
derogatory and exploitive imagery in everyday objects. With items assembled
from local collections and recent purchases, the display examines the
origins of ethnic stereotyping and asks each viewer to evaluate their own
point of view. Student Union Gallery, 7 a.m.-11 p.m. daily, noon-5 p.m.

Through Feb. 12: �The Works: 2005 Juried Student Exhibition.� Student
work in any media will be considered for inclusion in this exhibition.

Nutrition and Weight Management Consultation. The Student Recreation

opportunity to address concerns about nutrition and weight management

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 1
Strength Training 101. The Student Recreation Center Classroom. 6-7
p.m. This session will focus on general strength training and workout

THURSDAY, FEB. 2
Fettuccine Forum. Rose Room, 718 W. Idaho Street. 5:30 p.m. Join
Boise State sociology professor Leslie Martin as she presents �Won�t You Be
My Neighbor? How and Why Neighborhoods Work.� Presented by the Idaho Center

Backcountry Avalanche Safety Registration Deadline. 6-9 p.m. Feb. 2,
in the Student Recreation Center Classroom and 9-5 p.m. Feb. 4 at a
wilderness site. This seminar provides the basic knowledge and judgment
required for remote winter travel, skiing, and snowshoeing. Emphasis will be
on assessing snow pack stability, route selection, group leadership, hazard
assessment, rescue and evacuation procedures. All technical equipment will
provided by the Outdoor Program. Transportation to be arranged by

Boise Chamber Music Series. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 8 p.m. As
part of the Boise Chamber Music Series, violinist Carolyn Huebl, cellist
Felix Wang and pianist Amy Dorfman of the Blakemore Trio will join Boise
State violist Linda Kline Lamar for a performance of Brahm�s G minor piano

SATURDAY, FEB. 4
Family Engineering Day. Engineering and Technology Building, on the corner
of Manitou and University. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. This family oriented event will
include fun and exciting engineering activities for all ages. Presented by
the College of Engineering and a variety of government and business

Classic Performances Series: Charles Neidich. Special Events Center.
8 p.m. Considered one of the most versatile clarinet soloists performing in
the world today, Charles Neidich was the first American to receive a
Fulbright grant for study in the former Soviet Union. He has won numerous
top honors in national and international competitions as a soloist, and is a
member of the New York Woodwind Quintet. Neidich has made a range of
recordings on both modern and historical instruments. Sponsored by Boise

�Little Bear & The Enchanted Wood.� Morrison Center. 1 p.m. and 5
p.m. Little Bear is a gentle, curious and inventive children�s character
that has captivated the imagination of children for more than 50 years. This
90-minute, audience interactive musical production will feature Little Bear,
Duck, Owl, Cat and Emily. Presented as part of the Cable One Family Series.

Outdoor Program on this trip to the first Annual College Days event at

SPB Films. Special Events Center. 2:30 and 7 p.m. Join the Student
Programs Board as they screen the hit film �Elizabethtown.�
�42nd Street.� Morrison Center. 7:30 p.m. Feb. 7-9. �42nd Street,�
presented as part of the Fred Meyer Broadway in Boise series, is the
second-longest running American musical in Broadway history and a 2001 Tony

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 8
Climbing Skills Series. The Student Recreation Center Climbing Wall.
6-8 p.m. The Outdoor Program invites climbers who have passed a belay check
to participate in this progressive climbing skills clinic. Skills addressed
will include edging, flagging, lay backs, mantles, matching, smearing,
stemming and more. $10; registration required 24 hours prior to class. Call

This event is an intriguing exhibition of articles and books by Boise State

FRIDAY, FEB. 10
Intro to Route Setting. Student Recreation Center Climbing Wall. 4-7
p.m. The Outdoor Program invites participants to learn the skills necessary
for setting quality climbing routes: route design, hold and bolt selection,
optimal placements and rope ascension techniques. Free. Call 426-1946.
Meistersingers Valentine Soiree. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 7:30

SATURDAY, FEB. 11
�Buck Off� Indoor Climbing Competition. Student Recreation Center
Climbing Wall. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The Outdoor Program invites all members of the
campus community to test their climbing skills at the 2006 �Buck Off.�
Climbers will be judged for speed and technique on boulder, top rope and
lead climbing routes during this all-day climbing festival. There will be
categories for youth, beginner, intermediate and advanced climbers. Entrance
fee includes a shirt and raffle prizes. $20 pre-registration; $25 at the

Service Saturday. Student Union Brava! Stage. 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Join

feature a buffet of delicious international recipes and an evening of

This event is a celebration of authentic African traditions of drumming,
