The Renaissance Institute at Boise State University will offer Navigating the Health-Care System from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday evenings in March in the Boise State Student Union. Those who are not currently members of the institute, but who are interested in attending one of the sessions, may do so free of charge. If participants plan to attend additional sessions, they will be required to join the institute and pay the $25 class fee.

Participants will learn from leading health-care professionals the key factors that are driving the escalating costs and how individuals can better manage the cost of their own healthcare costs.
The course will address accessibility and cost of insurance and provide information that will help individuals manage health-care insurance needs. Major factors affecting the quality and accessibility and cost of prescription drugs will be discussed, and best routes to follow to purchase needed prescription drugs will be considered.

Course presenters are all local health-care experts and include Dr. Gary Krouth, vice president of Saint Lukes Regional Medical Center; John Stellmon, president of Regence BlueShield of Idaho; Richard Mick Markuson, executive director of the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy; and Dr. J. Robert Polk, vice president of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

Boise States Renaissance Institute brings adult learners together in a social context to expand their intellectual horizons and enrich their lives. The sessions are offered in relaxed, comfortable settings in the community, and membership is open to all.
