Join the Boise State University Outdoor Programs for the seventh annual Sawtooth Mountain Film Festival March 3 in the Special Events Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the first film starts at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $5 for advance tickets or $8 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased from 1-7 p.m. through March 2 at the Student Recreation Center. Several raffle prizes will be awarded from big-name manufacturers and local businesses.

The festival went independent in 2005 and is now highlighting the talents of both local and international athletes and directors. This year’s festival includes 11 films that speak to the heart and soul of adventure.

The selected films feature incredible displays of commitment, talent, skill and courage in the sports of whitewater kayaking, base jumping, rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, telemarking and snowboarding. All are produced by independent directors.

Featured films for 2006 are:

Between the Earth and Sky, produced by Frank Pickell, Rattle Can Films. A team of paragliders journey into the Khumbu region of Nepal to climb and fly from the high peaks and share the joys of free-flight through tandem paragliding with the Sherpa people.

Where the Sun Never Sets,
produced by Rob Coffey. Experience whitewater kayaking through the eyes of Rosie Cripps as she explores Norway’s virgin rivers.

Neige,
produced by Michael Weyer. Journey with a local videographer to the untracked steeps of the European Alps as he searches out snowboard lines with the Swiss locals.

Living the Dream … Falling
, produced by Miles Daisher. Join Twin Falls BASE jumper Miles Daisher as he lives out his dream by free falling from everything in sight. You won't believe what this local lunatic is doing.

PWO5, produced by Noah and Jonah Howell. A group of Telemark skiers experience the wonders of Utah’s backcountry and push the limits of free-heel ski lines.

Huck’d,
produced by Wet and Twisted Productions. A group of Irish kayakers start on their backyard runs then travel to test the demanding Class V waters of Africa.

Sessions, produced by Tough Guy Productions. Beautiful cinematography offers a window into the heart and soul of free-heel backcountry travel in the Sierras.

The Second Step,
produced by Lysis Films. Warren MacDonald, a double leg amputee demonstrates that we all have the ability to pull off some pretty incredible things. Experience his 28-day epic trek and climb of Federation Peak, Australia’s most challenging mountain.

The Collective, produced by Darcy Wittenberg and Jamie Houssian. Shot on 16mm film, The Collective portrays the newest, cutting-edge freeride progressions and explores the thoughts and personalities of the riders leading the sport.

Splitter, produced by Russ Holcomb and Jonathan Copp. Splitter peers into the minimalist’s approach to expedition climbing, where an “expedition” can consist of just two friends and the fiery ember of a dream.

Hypoxia II (Ethiopia), produced by Rob Coffey and Nick Doran. A group of international kayakers fend off crocodiles, hippopotamuses, locals and big rapids to claim the first kayak source to sea expedition on the Blue Nile in Ethiopia.

Event Sponsors include Boise State’s Outdoor Programs, Patagonia, Horny Toad, AIRE, Smith, KAVU, Montrail, Voile, Idaho River Sports, Alpenglow and many more. For more information, call (208) 426-1946 or visit rec.boisestate.edu/sawtoothmountainfilmfest.
